That was front page news a few days back. Just look at the "heart" one here.

MS needs to hook up with Audible and provide a solution for the HUGE audio book market. I can't believe they haven't done this yet.

A text/.pdf viewer would be awsome. Maybe XNA can do that.

More codecs

It would REALLY be cool to have a radio recorder, just like my dad's and my sister's creative zen and sandisk (respectively).

Also, microsoft should stop being so uptight and "grumpy" about their device. Give people the ability to develop their own firmware, or at least give us more freedom to edit the one we're stuck with.

Web browsing is definitely a want...

by next firmware i HOPE that XNA will work a bit more seamlessly with the zune, not requiring a restart after you exit the game.

let us populate our zune and use it as a portable hard drive

let us access the system partition through the portable hard drive option

UNLOCK THE INTERNAL HARD DRIVE (seriously, why the hell did microsoft even implement that?)

i definitely agree with the ability to play avi. I would also like to be able to play flac files (yes, i know all about wma lossless, i just like to support good freeware)

a better equalizer. The creative zen has certain frequency ranges that it can boost, and the user can alter how much of each frequency to boost. I would like THIS equalizer option, and then the ability to name and save my equalizer settings, so i can select it easily among a number of multiple custom settings that i could make in the future.

Now, this may be a bit of an odd idea, but how about something like zune radio? Utilizing the zune 2 zune wifi, you can broadcast what ur listening to, and anyone with a zune in the area can choose to listen to your station. It would also be cool if the people listening to your "radio station" could rate it, either by stars, or by texting short comments that your zune would receive and save for you to view and see how people like your music. I think that this feature would actually be quite a bit more "social" than the lame "send a song for you to listen to 3 times."
I feel that because the above idea is "streaming music" and because the zune would not save it, that there should be no need for any limits on the songs to be broadcasted or to be listened to.

Well, those are my ideas. Hopefully i can see some in future updates!

i would like this as well. i have a zune 80, and the equalizers would make a huge difference in audio quality for my headphones. my cresyn headphones don't pick up bass too well, which is why this would be am awesome feature for me. i dunno why they were removed since the 30, cuz this feature was one of the ones i liked most about the zunea bass boost feature would be a nice touch as well

The possibility to use it as a portable hard disk.

I'll be happy when they make it able to be used as a portable hard drive and doesn't need the Zune software to connect to every computer I want to plug it into.

A battery meter that shows up on your computer screen. (Sorry if it's already been suggested.) I keep my Zune in my desk drawer and just hook up the cable when I want to sync or recharge it. The other day I took it out sync'ed it quick and took it with me when I went to work. The #)($&$^@ thing played one song and died since the battery on it was dead.

More accurate sync percentage. The percentage of completion shows up on my Zune randomly, and then goes away. It never stays up the entire time and I hate looking at the software to know if my Zune is done syncing.

I'm sure most people will agree:
1) A CLOCK, for crying out loud. Why didn't they put this is in it??
2) customizable themes...different looks of the os. Like the samsung t10 or P2. I really only got the zune because of price and screen size over those two samsungs. Different Main menu styles (os's)
3) An Internet Browser. I don't care if it takes me forever to type Zune.net | Zune.net Home or Zune Boards - Home on an onscreen keyboard and d-pad--At least we'll have it! It kinda opens up the limitations of the zune. Plus it might look good on a zune. (it does on an iTouch-.5 inch bigger screen tho)
4) A professional GOOD LOOKING Zune-to-Zune chat client via wifi or internet hotspot. The 30ft range kinda sucks for texting. Also, make the internet chat client available under the SOCIAL submenu. It would be cool if it said: Nearby Friends Inbox Sent Chat (or something similar) so we dont have to go into GAMES to chat. Kinda lame. For example: I could chat to my brother, when Im in colorado and he's in west virginia via an internet wifi hotspot chat client when Im at mcdonalds or starbucks.
5) Send movies. It'll kill your battery--perhaps.
6) I dont know if this is even possible but-better battery life (better written code to save energy maybe? Battery kinda sucks)
7) Delete songs directly off of zune without pc. Shouldnt be too hard to implement.

These things can really up the market share against creative and apple if MICROSOFT would just give them to us.

But three of my favorites of the seven would be the internet, wifi/hotspot zune2zune chat and different themes/os's to choose from.

But at least the firmware upgrades are free, unlike apple's. Zune still kicks head with its sweet boots of awesomeness. Apple needs to get a helmet, then take it off so zune can kick it in the head again.
