Default Problem with my Zune 30

OK, first off, sorry.
I know this has been here more or less a 1000 times already but I wasn't - for gods sake - able to find an answer.

I got my Zune30 with 3.1 already on it.
Looks nice, games are great - wait, no unicode.
That's why I downgraded to 1.4.
Put fonts on HDD, everything worked as it should.
Then I thought it would be cool to put 2.5 on it as it has this newer sexy interface and the unicode hack still works (afaIk )

Actually the topic would already be at an end here if the unicode hack (i.e. connecting the Zune HDD to the computer and putting the fonts on it) shouldn't work with 2.5 firmware. So does it?

If it does still work with 2.5, the PLEASE help me getting it to work.

So I downgraded the Zune to 2.5 by first installing the 3.1 software again and then using the method described here, only with the 2.5 firmware.
That worked out and 2.5 was successfuly running.
I then uninstalled the 3.1 software and installed the 2.5 one.
When I connected the Zune to the PC the software asked for ZuneNetProxy.dll.
I then downloaded the 2.5 driver pack hoping that it would be included there but it isn't, so I used the ZuneNetProxy.dll from the 3.1 drivers.
But the Zune won't be recognized after all.
All that did is that the hourglass next to the cursor now pops up every second as long as the Zune is plugged in.
Hence I used UnZoone to wipe everything out completely and installed 2.5 again - same thing, nothing works.
UnZooned again, installed 2.5 software again but this time I formatted the Zune completely before connecting it and hoped that it would work this time by letting the software put the firmware back on the device, but nope.
Just like the hourglass next to the cursor the Zune itself now jumps back and forth between step 1 and 2 of the installation, i.e. "Connect to your PC" and the one that comes after it.

Do you have any tips?
I'll try installing the 2.5 software on another PC tomorrow and see if it's only making problems on my one but maybe you guys already know an answer.
Or should I just go back to 1.4? Because I NEED a version that still has unicode support, which one is the latest?

Thanks!

I do not think the 2.5 firmware allows Unicode through the hack that you mentioned.
