Question [SOLVED] Will my Zune radio interfere with an airplane flight?

I'm getting on an airplane today and I was worried that I might inadvertently accidentally scroll and hit the radio select, and it would turn on in flight. I already have the wireless set to off but I was more worried about the accidental radio thing.

Anyone that has any thoughts on this I would be greatly appreciative.

well if you think about it, the plane must be flying through radio waves anyway, so it shouldnt be a problem for a device just to pick it up..

The radio on the Zune doesn't transmit anything, it just receives. There really is minimal risk of interference to begin with, most modern planes will be fine even if you try and interfere, let alone on the FM spectrum, let alone the Zune only receives (FM).

It's like any wifi. If they don't want mobile phones then I guess they don't want any RF.

Yeah, you're fine, just make sure to keep that Wi-Fi off.

Yeah, there's been a study in which Wi-Fi waves don't interfere with airplanes.

Regardless, unless there's other people on the plane with Zunes it's rather pointless to keep it on. And they always say "Turn off all wireless devices" and whatnot, so regardless of whether or not it has an effect it's probably still a good idea.

Even wifi doesn't interfere except with the Headphones of the pilots all the electronics cables are shielded against that stuff.

They have wi-fi on some of the newer planes
or atleast thats just what i read when i was flying on the plane
so i doubt wi-fi would actually do anything but then again i don't know why you want to have it on either.

Also to the actual posts
fm wave signals don't do anything
they proved it wrong on myth busters

Last time I was on a commercial plane (about two months ago), the flight attendants said not to use FM radios. Despite my fear of getting tackled and pistol whipped by a US Marshall, I turned on my Zune radio and listened to a local rock station. I didn't get tackled or pistol whipped, and the plane didn't crash. So to answer your question, no.

My question is: Why would anyone want to listen to a FM radio station in an airplane? Stations faded in and out every five minutes or so. I ended up turning the radio off and settling for a few episodes of The Office.

yea there isnt much up there as by then the radio waves are not strong enough. so there really is no point unless flying low.

No it wouldn't, a plane cruises at 50,000 ft. Thats much higher than fm waves can reach.

Actually, decent strength signals go into space. It's said that they just keep going onward until they hit something, which is surprisingly hard to do in space.

On most flights, it is advised that you turn off all electronic devices during takeoff and landing to avoid any interference. I took a flight in August and was listening to the Zune for just a little too long in flight when a very stern looking stewardess advised me in no uncertain
