HELP! major problems installing firmware 3.0

Ok, so first off, i downloaded the 26 (or so)mb version of zune software at first from zune.net, and the software works fine until i try to update my device from 2.5 to 3.0.

then when i clicked update it says this

and of course i click web help and since its an unknown error, that site is useless (and ive tried everything on it).
So, i went and downloaded the 165mb version from microsoft.com, and i get the same error. I've googled the error and ive gotten this site off one of these threads. You cannot update the software on a Zune device

I've tried everything there too. I've unzooned my computer and reinstalled numerous times, and still nothing.

Ive even done countless hard resets on my zune. Now the only way for me to even use my Zune really is to install zune softwear 2.5.

I am beginning to get really frustrated with this and i REALLLLLLY need help because it's been 3 days and i still havent gotten 3.0 yet.

Oh and BTW i have a zune 30 if that means anything.

Heres the error code:C00D11CD (8007042C)

i hope somebody knows how to get past this.

Do the following!!!

Download the following application:
http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...bd/msicuu2.exe

Install it--> run it--> then select ALL of the zune components on your computer and hit remove.

Then download this:

http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...tuppkg-x86.exe

The above method is what worked for me. I wish you the best of luck.

Then install it and you should be done.

I had the same error and tried the above suggestion and it didn't help. I decided it could be due to access issues since the user login I am using on Windows Vista is not an administrator. So I changed the access to Administrator and the update just finished. So I guess you need to be an admin on Vista to do this updated. Good luck!

You may have to update you microsoft .net framework.

To do this go to the microsoft.com In the search box at the top of the page you will type the following: .net framework 3.5 sp1 Type it exactly as posted here, with the spaces. Click the magnifying glass. Click the first link, It Is the .net framework 3.5 service pack 1. Click download, Then follow the prompts. Run, Run, Install, Restart PC.
after PC restarts relaunch zune software plug in your zune and it should update .

It worked for me, Hope it helps.
