When I went to go listen to my zune after I got done running my XC meet, I noticed that the counter or whatever was stuck at 0:00 and would not move, never noticed it before, but it could also be after a prolonged period of time it will start. After restarting my zune completely not putting it to sleep it worked fine. Anyone know why this happened and what i can do to prevent it from happening?

This is exactly what I have been talking about in other threads! I'm glad someone else has had the same problem. It's not happening right now, but it has happened a couple of times.
The same thing happened to as well. I thought that I'd turned the volume down or paused it, but that wasn't the case. The song was just stuck at 0:00. I had to reset it.
Glad to know its not just my zune, cause when I was updating, the zune just disconnected and the software didn't realize it, so I thought the problem might be because of that.

Yeah, i am having the same problem like many of you. My zune says songs are at 0:00, play/pause doesn't work, when i select a song, it freezes but eventually loads after about 15sec. This really sucks! I wish i would have just stuck with 2.5.
I have the Zune80 and this also happens to me with 3.0. Also, my device continues to freeze when I play a new song. It doesn't always happen, but still quite frequently. Restarting the device fixes the problem, but it is really annoying.
I have the 0:00 counter, as well as the occasional 2x song speed (which is actually quite amusing at times). I'm gonna try a hard reset. Hopefully it works.

this 2x song speed thing just happend to me today hahah i and it was only one song, but a quick restart fixed it
I had the zero counter thing happen while I paused the song........then My zune froze. I tried the lock button and all the other misc. buttons. But it stayed on.
Then around about sixth period my pocket was getting warm and it started to overheat.....luckily the battery just died. I got home. Charged it. IT's working fine now. So I don't know if this is related or not. But thought I'd contribute.

yeah that sucks. the whole frozen thing happend to me one time a while ago it was stuck on the zune logo screen but just waited for it to die then i charged it and it was all good after that. but its never heated up for me...
so its probably not related to this problem...
edit:
My cousin had a problem where the song speed was half the normal speed.. he also had the double speed problem too. anyone else have half speed?

Reason: more info
This happens to me on every song I play. I'll see if a few resets can't fix it.
