Zune Takes Music Discovery to the Next Level With New Ways to Find and Access Digital Music: Software update will enable Zune users to tag songs and buy music directly from FM radio and download and stream music on the go beginning Sept. 16.

There you go. Most of the features are confirmed, along with audiobook, audible and something called "Overdrive"

The ironic thing is that someone had posted it in a thread on zunescene while I was looking around...
Since I didn't see anything here about the release date, I decided to post it. And here we are, with a date that is a week later than everyone expected.

I was doing a little research on this "Overdrive" thing.
According to their official website:
OverDrive provides world-class infrastructure for distributing premium digital content. We empower publishers, enterprises, libraries, schools, and retailers to maximize their presences in the digital world by enabling them to securely manage, protect, and lend or sell digital audiobooks, eBooks, music, and videos.

That's cool...
I guess? Doubt I'll be using it.

I'm really considering getting a zunepass for this update, Now I just think they should add something so we can change the font size on the main menu, With all those new features of games and marketplace, it's really taking up the whole screen

If they had j-rock or just japanese rock music, I would get the zune pass.
Marketplace doesn't have it(from what I've seen a while ago and the fact that asian font support isn't there).

Or maybe I just got used to getting my music the illegal way.

Speaking of J Rock, will the Zune finally have unicode support so my Japanese music won't have those stupid boxes for titles?

I did some research myself (i.e. I clicked on the first link I could find), and the site has a "free search" feature in which you click on your country/state and it shows you which public libraries in that state are connected to OverDrive and offer free downloads of movies, music, books, etc.

The Maricopa Library District (close to where I live in Phoenix) offers a ton of videos (anything from cooking videos, to a hour-long documentary on the origin of hemp, to a pretty big handful of full anime movies, though I've seen them all already.). Currently, the downloads have a "lending period," in which it can only be played on the given PC (no share, sync, etc.). I'm guessing that's what'll change come this firmware's release.

I find the Pandora style features amusing. I will really have to consider a Pass, especially if Pandora actually dies as this would make a pretty damn good substitute... I also like they have some features I haven't heard of before...
