Windows Media Player for the win, of course.

I'm not a huge fan of the miniplayer, but the taskbar support is a must for me.

You have obviously never stepped away from your precious Windows haven. There's this little thing called Linux. It doesn't have any of these fancy players. I can run WMP via Wine very simply. I'd rather not though, I hate WMP. My favorite on windows would be musikCube and my favorite on the nix is Amarok (which is in beta for windows ^_^)
Basically my favorite player, regardless of OS is anything light, has last.fm support, and has a simple way to sort through tons of songs.

iTunes.

Clean, quick, and efficient. Windows Media Player's interface needs some serious work. The Zune software lacks too many features to be compared in all seriousness with iTunes. I haven't tried Napster, though.

i like wmp because there aren't any hassles with the metadata, its very easy to sort out, so in terms of being a music library i like it the best. what i hate about all music software is the amount of cpu they use...but thats another story..

I like winamp, not because its better for any particular reason, ive just been using winamp for the longest time and just prefer it. It's probably the first best freeware application for multimedia until VLC came along.

In case you haven't noticed, I'm a programmer. i have tried Linux, not much luck cause some of the distributions don't work on my laptop for some mysterious reason...Linux is much.. much.. better then windows or mac OS. It's more versatile, stable and customizable, and plus it's free!

i like the Windows Media Player, cause it plays almost any type of file i feed it and it's very clear and clean and fast. Nero is good too but it's a little slower than WMP.

I prefer the zune software to those listed but for just playing my music the HP Touchsmart software beats anything by a mile. You just touch and drag any song you want to a playlist it's great.

Mediamonkey for me.
Simply design, skinnable, can handle large libraries, feature packed, and with a bit of trickery, can even sync the Zune!

I prefer separate software for separate duties. I use Foobar2000 for playback of my library, because it is super customizable and allows me to use my outboard DAC + headphone setup off my laptop. For regular syncing and device management I use the Zune software.

I prefer the Zune software. Unlike Itunes it doesn't look like a spread sheet. I can easily navigate my way through the software to find my music, pics, and videos. My zune updates fast then my old ipod did.

There are some very cool user examples of customized versions of Foobar on Hydrogenaudio.

Here's one which mimics iTunes coverflow

I like this one:
