Update zune from guest mode?

hey,

i did a search before i posted this, so if i'm being redundant, i'm sorry...

I have a Zune 30 that I last synced from my PC back in december before my PC died... both of my hard drives crashed (ugh)... and have recently acquired a laptop... i installed my zune software but haven't plugged in my zune yet for 2 reasons...

1. Can I update my FIRMWARE from my new laptop without wiping my zune memory (and losing my 4500 song library from my old PC).

2. Can i use the HDD hack before I sync to my new laptop to copy my old music over from my zune to my laptop?

any help would be greatly appreciated...

When you connect the zune it will ask you to sync library or connect as a guest. Just connect as a guest and you library will remain on the zune.

No need for the HDD hack you can easily reverse sync your media.

can i still reverse sync my media?

it was all on my old HD's that crashed on my PC... will it let me rev. sync them to the new computer? (the only way it exists now is on my zune, so i don't want to wipe it out or it will be gone for good)

i guess i should note that the songs weren't obtained through the ZM, most were cd rips and some d/l's from limewire...

I think you should be fine. As long as you connect as a guest, the Zune software will not automatically sync. At that point you can drag your entire library over to your collection and watch it populate on your new PC.

wow... that's awesome, is that one of the new features? (i haven't been online since last year) - i know that used to you couldn't do that...

It's been able to do that for a while now. I did it on my work computer like a year ago. You can copy music and pictures. I'm not sure if you can copy video off or not. Haven't tried
