Default Zune Car Pack v2 Firmware Update?

Last night I updated the Zune software which then updated the Zune itself. This morning my Zune updated my Zune Car Pack v2. Anybody have any idea why it would need to do that or what improvements were made? I swear the sound quality has improved, but that's probably my imagination.

The Car pack does not have firmware. Do you mean the software updated the Zune? The firmware changelog didn't mention anything about sound quality, but if it sounds better to you, what the heck .

I understand that the Zune software updated the Zune. It's what happed the next day that has me puzzled. Once I plugged in the Zune to the Car Pack the screen said something like "Please click ok to update your accessory" Then I clicked the center button and on the screen there was a percentage that appeared and quickly went up to 100%.

What I find odd, is that if it was the Zune's firmware that was updated to work better with the Car Pack, why did it have to be plugged into an accessory to update. Shouldn't have that been part of the general firmware update along with the gapless playback and whatever?

It appears as if the Zune carried the adapter update within it. Since you can't connect a Car Pack adapter to a computer, it makes sense that any upgrade would be deployed in that manner. Again, I have no solid proof of what happened. Just my own ears and eyes. Regarding reception of the Car Pack, I have never had any static. So, I can't say anything in that regard. Stereo separation on the other hand, seems better.

Had the same thing happen when I plugged mine Z80 into the V2 car pack. I'm with you it does seem like it sounds better and louder to me.

Well that's cool. A really nice unannounced feature to the new Zune firmware. Really, it makes the Zune Car Pack v2 a much better product. I'm really impressed that MS had the forethought to make the new Zune Car Pack upgradeable.

Thanks mzr for looking that up and giving us links to the update & instructions!

Good to know I'm not crazy.

Same here. Seemed a tad louder after the update.
