Volume on ONE? What is this nonsense. My headphones take around 11 at least for soothing bedtime volume levels.

I'm usually at a 7 or so.
In ear earphones really do the trick

The volume range has always seemed strange to me.

I think the volume range goes to 20 for over the ear headphones.
I have tried both ear pods normal in-ear headphones and over ear head phones
ear pods and in-ear only need about up to 10 (on the street with traffic) for me ne who at work i have them at about 5 and over ear i need at about 15,16 out side with traffic .
so i guess its to accommodate all types of headphones

Volume at 0? Maybe you have a haunted Zune. Ooooooooo! I wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure it's nothing.

Maybe we all have sound at 0, and those of us who can't hear it are just going deaf?

you guys really should research these things before posting about them. Anyone who understands the basics of audio/amplifiers especially on MP3 players, knows that when the volume is on 0, the amp is off. That doesn't mean that the output is off, just that the amp is off. So for anyone who cant hear this, it just means that you don't hear as well as others, because this is so on every audio output device made

"Well, you know, we wanted a special "something" when we wanted it really quiet, so our amps go to zero."
"Well, why not just make 1 quieter and leave it at 1?"
"But our amps go to ZERO."
