The main source of the audio at the lowest volume is the clearest. Lets say you have a Zune and you have headphones with volume control. It would be more distorted if the Zune volume was all the way up, and the headphone volume low. The reason why, I have no idea. Just happens that way.

Its not the Zune. Its the headphones. 0 is supposed to be none, but it cant because of Zune's amplifiers etc. when a headphone amplifies. it adds it to a one. so you can hear it

another possibility is your mind is tricked into thinking you hear it, because of the awkward silence after hearing it.

You're just as sane as the rest of us. Lol. I'm a zune 30, I hear it too. It's just the 30. My sister and friends have the 4,8,80 and it doesn't happen.

Zune 30 here, with an around-head right earphone. At '0', I can't hear a thing, I can hear '1' quite clearly.

Normal listening volume for me is 6-7 when quiet, 4-5 if out in public/other people. Anything above 9 for me is ear-splittingly loud.

As a few others have said, headphones don't really make a difference, only in quality of sound, not in volume. It's entirely possible that the 30 and second gen Zunes may treat the level '0' volume differently. Either way, if you want to leave your headphones in, and don't want to hear music? Turn off the Zune.

I've seen this happen in other players, but not on my Zune (it's a 4GB). I wouldn't worry about it since it doesn't mean there's something wrong with it so it's ok. Maybe it's the type of earphones you use, I don't know xD

So for anyone who cant hear this, it just means that you don't hear as well as others, because this is so on every audio output device made
Yeah... When I put the volume all the way down on my laptop and I use headphones, I can still faintly hear the sound.

I tried it. I didn't hear anything.
And I wouldn't be able to listen to my music at 11 for soothing bedtime music. I keep it between 1 and 3 if I am trying to sleep and listen to it.

I usually always have my volume at 20 unless I need to concentrate on something.

First of all, you have great hearing because 0 is a very low level of sound. I can hear mine at 0 too but only when the room is dead silent in the middle of the night and nothing is rustling the leaves outside

I've got a Zune 80GB and it doesn't occur on mine either, '0' gives me no sound at all.
