i've heard people talking about firmware, firmware, firmware what the heck is a firmware? and what does it do?

Firmware is pretty much the program running your zune. It's like the program on your zune that allows you to play music , vids, podcasts. With out firmware your zune would be a brick...in other words..

Nope, thats the software. You download the firmware from your software.
