Default Where has the time gone?

I wonder if in the next Zune firmware that they will put a digital clock somewhere near the battery readout, all iPods have it at the top...

If anyone has any info or any comments post below

I'm not sure if this is right, but I read something a while back ago somewhere on a zune forums like zb about the zune not having the parts or some sort of missing thing, that wont allow it to keep time... does anyone know if this is true. Because if it is then, that means no zune clock ever!!!!! Really wish zune had a clock, my ipoop friends are always cracking on me when I ask them for the time..... If zune had a clock and games(cant wait till they come out) it would own ipoop so much more!!!!

My mom was kind of shocked when I told her my Zune 80 didn't have a clock. Even her cheap cellphone tells the time.

I like the title of this post by the way.
Tell them the only time that matters is how much time is left on your movie, which is easier to see on your bigger screen.

With all the concern about battery life, the clock will remain unsupported. I know it doesn't take much juice to run it, but it does take some. They could install a small battery, but the guts are so jammed into the case now, why go through the extra effort just to see what time it is. Really, it's a useless function that would continue to grow to being a calandar, alarm clock, reminders, etc. More and more overhead that would take away from the performance as a MEDIA PLAYER. I would rather have more media support than knowing what time it is.

I would hope MS would devote the time to enhance the media capabilities of the device rather than gee-whiz stuff like games and a clock. More audio and video codecs, equalizer, utilize the wi-fi better, and things of that nature. back when I was just a young whipper-snapper, we used a device called a "watch" to find out what the time was. My how things change!!

you cant say that games aren't a good idea though you know? But yeah, having a equalizer and stuff on the 80 would be great too you know?

Games are another gee-whiz feature to give it more features on a feature list sheet. In and of itself, it's not a bad idea, and I'm sure a lot of people want games. I just hope they distribute the games by user selection, not wholesale updates to the firmware. I don't want to give up space to games I would probably never play. IMHO

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the Zune80 has the hardware capability to have an equalizer.

Its not that it cant have it its more because microsoft said it was not required as the sound quality is meant to be so good.

My understanding is that it doesn't support a hardware based equalizer, but they could always add a software based equalizer. I personally have no interest in them adding an EQ, especially an inferior software based EQ, but some people think they need one, so it would add appeal to the player.

I seriously doubt having a clock running in the background would do anything to battery life. Seriously, if you're that concerned about it then you should be complaining about the fact that you can't turn the backlight off. I'm pretty sure the Zune already has timing features. It counts the time that you've watched a file as an example. It's probably just a matter of programming the static images that will change along with a timer in the background.

QFT. What does every one have against a clock? Just because its not in the Zune now and people are asking for one, doesn't mean we don't like the Zune or that its a bad device. We're just saying it could be improved!

EDIT: For some reason my posts don't show up on the other computer I use. Anyway, what I said was that anyone who says that Zune doesn't need a clock is just trying to be difficult. There is no logical reason as to why it should not have one. The feature is not useless and I'm sure everyone is not always around a clock. In my school some of my teachers don't put clocks in their room because they feel they are distractions. So, we have to keep up with it ourselves (which is relly more of a distraction), but that's just one time when having a clock would be nice. Microsoft is either being lazy or the Zune doesn't support one. I think that they are being lazy.

The zune does have time keeping capabilities for the 3-day rule stuff so thats not the prob and the zune already has alot more battery draining things on it the album art showing while you are playing a song is one example it takes more processor time which = more power drainage and it means varying the output to the screen which is even more drainage and a clock wouldn't take up that much battery life anyway.
