Default Zune 80GB: Downgrading Firmware and Software from 2.3 to 1.4?

Can I downgrade my Zune 80GB running v. 2.3? If so, will I have access to automatic playlist, the equalizer, and flagging. Will I lose access to podcasts? Is there a software/firmware version for the Zune 80GB that will enable all these features? For all the talk about the improved Zune, I can't understand why they would remove these "standard" mp3 player features.

Also, does anyone know if Microsoft has any plans to include these in any "soon-to-be-released" firmware updates?

You can't downgrade a Zune 80 to 1.4 firmware -- Sorry!

Sorry. You can't.

Also, the equalizer is an actual piece of hardware inside the Zune 30, which isn't in the Zune 2s. So you wouldn't be able to use it anyways.

Yea it wouldnt work because the software at 1.4 would not even know what a Zune 80 was so all you would get is confusion on both ends.

Yeah. It's probably got a different bit of code in the firmware so that it recognizes the touch pad anyways.

Why did they remove the equalizer?

Is the Zune 80's hardware any different than the 30's, besides the touch pad and no equalizer?

Wouldnt it be a peice of hardware that recognizes the touchpad? that way they don't have to have seperate versions of firmware for the 30 and 80.

I could be wrong... but it seems more logic..

Yeah, if you somehow downgraded (which does not seem possible), you would lose touchpad support/drivers.

Either way, the guy can't downgrade to the first firmware because it wouldn't recognize it.. The firmware probably doesn't have support for it.
