Default I want to downgrade to 2.2

I've been getting a sync error every since i upgraded to 2.3 and I want to know if it really is firmware 2.3 fault. I have all the necessary files but I'm confused about certain instructions in the firmware downgrade tutorial.

i have a zune 80 and the file i need is DracoBaseline its in a rar file I want to know in part 6 of the tutorial it says 6. Rename the firmware file to: Zune01050485.cab. Do I still do this, leave it alone or do I have to rename it to something else like DracoBaseline.cab

I doubt it's because of the firmware. Maybe your cable went bad.

That may be the case but support told me to sync my songs one at a time and that has worked well so far I have not gotten the error since but I don't want to sync 4000+ songs one file at a time.

Well step it up and see how many you can sync at once. But that does sound like a cable problem.

usually around 15-50 songs if I sync whole albums or let the zune software sync my whole library until i get the error and if you want to know what the error code is its C00D124D a screen pops up and you see this info.

Quote:
Zune Device Is Not Responding

Error Summary:Your Zune Device has not responded to the last command from your computer. It may be hung. Disconnect your device from your computer and then reconnect it to reestablish normal communications.

Error Code:C00D124D
Microsoft themselves don't know what the error is and when I talk to support they just don't know what the problem is.

i've been getting this same error since the upgrade and i highly doubt its because of the cable as i can still sync songs sometimes but not without messing with it for an hour.

I found a way to downgrade my zune 80 firmware easier then the instructions to downgrade the zune 30 maybe users with a zune 30 can use it.

Anyway I found a rar file called FirmwareUpdate in this directory
C:\Documents and Settings\(user)\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Zune\Firmware Updates\14

All I did was take the DracoBaseline than renamed FirmwareUpdate and replaced the one that was in the folder. I reformatted my Zune then connected it with my software at this point the zune software said it was going to install firmware 2.3, I clicked continue and it installed I got an error it said firmware 2.3 was not installed. I checked my settings and clicked about then zune in my device and it wrote version 2.1 I thought it was supposed to be firmware 2.2. Note i did not have the my internet connected at time.

Well firmware 2.1 did not fix my problem, I will try to locate a legit 2.2 firmware and try again. For now I can sync one album at a time on my zune the only catch is I have to close and restart my zune software and sync another album at least it beats syncing every track one by one.

Anyway does anybody have firmware 2.2 the resource links I found here did not work and the user links i found here and used was actually firmware 2.1.

^whats the difference of uninstalling the zune with unzoon and just uninstalling it with the standard windows uninstalation. and what is the second file

Anyway ever since I upgraded my 80 to 2.3 I have been getting a C00D124D error. I could never get more then a dozen songs on my zune when i sync my whole collection until i get the error. I tried everything tried all my usb ports, downloaded all the windows updates, reformatted the hard drive, un-installed and reinstalled the zune software nothing worked. i have not tried a new sync cable but people said they still got the error even with a new sync cable, and i have not tried another computer I don't have anther one. Microsoft support never even heard of the error and the only advice they gave me was to sync my collection one track at a time. I have a collection of close to 5,000 songs and growing.

Zune Device Is Not Responding

Error Summary:Your Zune Device has not responded to the last command from your computer. It may be hung. Disconnect your device from your computer and then reconnect it to reestablish normal communications.

Error Code:C00D124D

When i disconnect the device and restart the device the software will sync from the beginning most likely causing duplicate files and the previous files that did not sync properly would be shown as asynced but cannot play or be deleted properly causing me to reformat the device.

Microsoft themselves don't know what the error is and when I talk to support they just don't know what the problem is.

I ran unzoon and my virus scanner said it has some sort of spyware called PrcViewer

edit thanks for your help Gregory but I got the error again after using unzoone and installing the zune software you provided.

Default Me too

2.3 locks up every couple of songs. It might have something to do with a certain format or maybe it's because it's on shuffle. I don't really care to troubleshoot it to that extent.

I'm going back to 2.2 and sticking there for a long time as this has been a real waste of time.

Im glad to see that Im not the only one haing problems with the newest firmware. I wish there was a way to change the firmware without deleting all the content.

Anyone haveing this problem with the Zune30? If not I would say it's a firmware problem simply because the point of the firmware (if I remember correctly) was to fix some issues with the Zune 30.

Default add me to the pile.

ditto with me for a 2.3 firmware f*** up on a zune 30 too.

my zune has worked flawlessly since i bought it around 4 months ago, the software/firmware has been updated a few times in that period without problems.

tonight it said there was an update, i click 'ok'. why not, never had a reason not to before! shortly after i get 'update failed' or whatever and when my zune boots i get an 'error 5 - contact support'. i read via google dozens of people who could only get this resolved by returning it to microsoft which isn't an option for me; i live nowhere near america. it spooks me.

soooooo, lots of reading later and trying various things i manage to get it to a point where the zune then boots, showing the menu and my custom wallpaper in the background but with a message that because of an error all content must be deleted - i select ok but then it just loops with the same message every time. a string of expletives bursts from my mouth - i'm already 2 hours deep into trying to get this fixed.

i stumble upon the the back button, ok button, and left sequence to get it to start from scratch and put the firmware back on.

at which point it says 'connect to pc' which i do, but it's ignored by the zune software which for some reason refuses to uninstall and a new install of the software results in an error - oh joy....

...another 2 hours later....

i eventually get the zune software back on and recognising the zune BUT then i'm in the boat with other users of this thread - every handful of songs the zune software stops and throws up 'zune device is not responding' error code c00d124d because the zune can't seem to stay powered on for more than 5 minutes before it reboots itself without warning or simply stops responding.

this is not a hardware failure issue, whatever microsoft did in 2.3 they f***** up BIG STYLE this time and i'm less than impressed that after already losing what is the best part of a working day just in trying to get the damn thing to respond i now have the joyous task of putting around 3000+ songs back on the thing in groups of around 10 songs per time.

i want to love my zune, i did love my zune, and i thought for once microsoft was proving everyone wrong by producing a stable piece of software. i should've known it was too good to be true, and if/when i get some stable firmware back on this unpredictable brick the zune software is getting blacklisted by my firewall.

no no, hang on i spoke to soon. as i was sat here putting some tracks back on i get the yet another 'not responding' message again and upon the zune rebooting it's back at 'on your pc open the zune software and restore the zune device firmware'. it's nearly 3am and i've had enough of this sh*t for one day....
