Default [SOLVED] mp4 support

Is it only the new Zunes that will be able to play mp4s and not have to convert them or is there a way to do it on the original zune30s?

Then how come it converts it before synching it to my zune?

Because your mp4 files is not in the correct setting for the Zune.
I use Xilisoft Video Converter 3 (ZUNE Mpeg 4) it converts it to the correct setting for the Zune and it will sync with your Zune without converting.

I remember reading in the official Zune forums that the original zune 30g's do not support mp4, only wmv, and thats why it re-encoded them. I have xilisoft's video converter 3 (newest) and have tried it myself, and didn't work, but i can't promise it was the correct zune (haven't tried it in a month or so.) profile, but it definitely said ZUNE in the profile name, but it didn't show up in the list to be able to send.
I'll try it again though for safe sakes.

I also have to convert EVERY video, all the WMV's I already converted for une resolution and everything. Getting very annoyed, all the movies I rip i convert over to WMV with 320 by 240 and I always have to wait like..maybe 2 hours minimum.

I use cucusoft for all my converting needs. works very well and has a nice conversion speed and quality. after converting, the videos load via zune software onto zune quite fast.

I used to use Cucusoft, but it starts getting blocky and smears on long videos (read: movies). I use mediacell, which converts to the zune settings for mp4. Very nice!

Nope the Zune30 does not support Mp4 and never will (because its requires a hardware change)

As for people having to re-encode wmv files make sure the bitrate is set to Broadband 700kbps and obviously have the dimension fixed at 320x240.

Use Total Video Converter. It is by far the best converting tool out there.

This is false I just got off the phone with Microsoft the Zune 30gb DOES support MP4. Hardware has nothing to do with different codecs. Thats like saying your computer is so old it doesnt support divx :P hardware has nothing to do with codecs. When the zune software says its converting video files, what its doing is changing the bit-rate of your videos.
