Yeah, I have tried EVERYTHING to get MP4's on my old Zune 30gb and it is IMPOSSIBLE. There does not seem to be any way to do it. Oh, and also, why do the new 80gb zunes support 720 by whatever dvd resolution video-output and the old ones only support the native 240x320 resolution? Is that a hardware issue?

It doesn't, it only support WMV (meeting certain specs) natively, MP4 is converted by the software before transferring.

Does anyone know the specs for the wmv files so that they don't get converted when syncing?

Thumbs up I Did It........(Ithink)

Before i say anything, I uses the newest version of Cucusoft Ultimate DVD + Video Converter Suite, and when i converter videos to wmv I have my profile settings on Zune Video - Windows Media 8 (.wmv)
Which is:
Video Bitrate=672
Frame Rate=29.970
Video Size=320x240
Mux Video Bitrate=768
The are the settings that I don't change.
MP4 is:
Video Bitrate=500
Frame Rate=29.970
Sample Rate=48000
Mux Video Bitrate=768
When the Zune software syncs my videos, it never converts my videos.

Doesn't happen for 4/8/80GB

4/8/80 can also support upto 3.0 Mbps bit rate for WMV, which is more than the 30 I believe.
