Zune not connecting

My computer does not recognize the zune --- the little bell keeps going off -- as if it has recognized a new connection -- but nothing-- this in continous

try to put the sync cable from the back of the computer its not tested that it works but when i called customer support that was one of the options they gave me, and if that doesnt work you should just call them to get a new sync cable.. is this the 30 gig?
