Enable Firewall - WORKS.

I was having trouble installing Zune 3.0. A fresh install that was failing with the error 0x80070643.

I was extremely skeptical. It's downright silly that the Zune software install requires that Windows Firewall to be enabled. But that did the trick for me.

Okay, I'm having the same problem and I've tried enabling the Windows Firewall, I also forwarded the 6 ports Zune uses in my router and I still cannot update. I get the following errors everytime:

hxxp://thumbnails11.imagebam.com/1421/86996a14205392.gif
hxxp://thumbnails11.imagebam.com/1421/bf890814205393.gif

I then receive a link to this: hxxp://support.microsoft.com/kb/944938?sd=zune
I go down to 'things to try' and try then, which leads right back to the error.

"You must update your Zune before you can use it with the Zune software.

However, we can't perform the update right now. The server might be unavailable or there might be a problem with your network or firewall settings.

Please make sure you're connected to the internet, then try again later."

This is on zune software 3.0, and I cannot update the firmware on my zune device, help.

Does this error still occur with 3.1 firmware? If not, this should be locked
