Thanks for this info. It is a complicated fix, but it did the job. Remember to delete the registry key before you upload (or try to) any future Windows updates.

To enable a successful install of Zune software, make sure your Windows Firewall is turned ON. After the install you can then turn it off again.
This solution enables the software to correctly, the way it was intended to. There is no need for regedits or other workarounds that will only cause you problems later. Hope it works for you. NOTE: In Vista the firewall service requires that both the Security Center and the Base Filtering Engine services be on as well. Feel free to disable them after the install. |

I have been fighting the rollback 02 0X80070643 error for a few weeks. I finally got the software to update. I found the answer in another forum. Goto C:/Windows/system32/drivers/wdf01000.sys file and rename it wdf01000.sys.bak After hours of cleaning the reg and all of the other fixes this worked for me. I added the .bak and installed the software update with no problem. Hopes this helps some of the other people who have spent hours on this problem.. Thanks Microsoft for all of your help.

Wish I saw this thread sooner. I had the same problem for WEEKS, unZune fixed it for me. From what I gather, its caused by the registry getting screwed up somehow. At least I didn't have to format.

Please help!!!
I've tried every method I could find! 1. Tried the regedit method. Made no difference, from what I can see. (Error still occur, as stated, yet still did not install.) 2. My Windows FireWall is on. 3. I don't have a "wdf01000.sys" file. 4. I've tried using the "ZunePackage" installation method. 5. I've tried installing "Windows Install Cleanup". 6. I've also tried using UnZoone to remove it, and try again. 7. And now, I even tried "mistermcd"s program... STILL no luck. ANY other methods out there? Any ideas? Iunno.. Maybe I'm retarded or something and I'm missing the big picture somewhere. Last edited by OniLink2k2 : 04-07-2008 at 08:20 PM. |
