Default my mini review of the new firmware...

hey, its out!!!(2.2 firmware for 1st gen zunes)

its much more smooth

the rating system is much more different now... no stars.... just a heart or a broken one

now when you select a song, it has the "goto artist option"

new language options..... English, French, Spanish

icons are vertical....

feel free to add to this, i just managed to get the big changes....

Can the old software be used with the new firmware? and if so why use the new software?

you guys can edit stuff! You go to the music collection screen and in the upper right hit list instead of browse. the right click on "song" and you can choose collumns and in a collumn right click and hit edit. not too hard people

**Edit** Um nevermind. I should read more. I would advise using WMP or windows explorer if you really need to edit info. i don't know why you wouldn't just let the zune software do it for you though

sure, i can edit everything now. but it still angers me that i must go through and put everything in the right album. I have some albums with 6 different artists in them now, which i never did before, so now i must go back and figure out why the CD that i paid for doesnt have every song that came with it and 20 others from completely unrelated artists.

Hey.. I tried adding a picture to my ablum art, and it didn't even give me which ones I had in there; also, it didn't let me delete any. Do you know how I can change that?

Also... I've been having some trouble changing the artists names. For example, I have 3 red hot chili peppers artists spelled differently(from my limewire days) and and managed to change one of them, but I can't get the other one to change. How can I fix this...

I think I'm gonna have to downgrade... *ugh*

I like the new firmwear too, but it gave me a headache. Firmwear basically screwed and chopped my whole library. Albums with wrong album art, Albums with wrong artists label, Songs that wont sync talkin about it don't exist anymore when the song is right there in your face with other songs. You sound like you got the new firmwear like everyone else but everything stayed the same in your library. You lucky, cheeky, bastard (in a good way !). But since I like the new firmware I'll try to fix everythig if I can, but I will never ever updade firmware again I dont care if it has wireless internet access or some how infared. I might if its DBZ related...maybe.......maybe.

I love the new FW and SW, granted that I didn't use the old ones for long but everything transfered over just fine. The only problem I had was installing the new SW other then that I had nothing wrong with my albums.

the new firmware is cool if you're not upgrading from a previous version. my entire library is screwed up but whatev.

it really wasn't worth all the anticipation in my opinion. microsoft has thrown us the meta editing from hell. What were they thinking when they were deciding what kind of editting abilities we'd have. That was really stupid on their part. They should've known that people who own zunes are alot smarter than people who own ipods and we can handle a little more tech stuff like meta editting. Anyways...done with that rant.

WOW!
Simple solution to some of your problems.
1.Download tool from microsoft download center.(Its called ZuneMediaCollectionResetTool)
2.Run the program. (this will delete your old zune library database)
3.Open the zune software and this should Rebuild Your zune database and it will not mess up)
ENJOY!
