Anyone care to post their opinions on the earbuds shipping with the Zune? I've not really been able to find any real opinions, good or bad, about the sound clarity and overall quality of sound as well as construction of the earbuds - I'd be real interested to hear what everyone has to say about them.
I've been looking into the Vmoda Vibe headphones myself - I really like the stats on them, and they look a treat as well! But if the shipped ones are good enough.... |

They're alright. I'd say they're slightly better than the earbuds that usually ship with mp3 players, but certainly nothing to 'write home about'. For people with small ears (like me
), they're very uncomfortable, and after wearing them for a while my ears start to hurt. This was the same for me with the default 1st Gen ipod earbuds.edit: those v-moda headphones look awesome! i might just order me some of those, as i've been looking for some sweet in-ear headphones for ~$100. |

I really enjoy the Zune headphones, they fit well in my ear and seem to have pretty good sound quality. Much better quality than the headphones that come with the iPod.

The magnets on the back of the earbuds so they "stick together" when wrapped up are simply brilliant. The earbuds sound great, look great but since they are large can get a little uncomfortable after a few hours of use... but to this day I have yet to find any that really don't get uncomfortable.

Never even touched them. I kept them in the packet they came in. I use regular wrap-around Philips headphones that I bought over the summer and they work great. A bit out of style now days since everyone likes those trendy little while ipod earphones, but i sure dont!
EdiT: I think trendy little white earphones being visible is a part of the modern "status quo". aka "i have an ipod. you can tell by the little white earphones."

Sennheiser HD 202 headphones. Professional quality for like 20-35 bucks. Sounds GReAt.

Love the magnets in them. Sound quality is great. Foam covers are garbage as they come off in my ears when I take them out. And is it just me having unusually small ears or something, because my ears are killing me after wearing them for any amount of time. As in, I can't touch my ear without cringing afterwards.

I really like the Zune earbuds... They are the perfect size for my ears, and they have quality on close to that of my Sennheiser MX-500s, which are arguably the best bang-for-the-buck earbuds out there. I haven't found the magnets to be strong enough for them to be useful, they phones just come apart and get tangled anyway in my pocket so I wrap them around the Zune...

I really like the overall design of the stock earbuds... the chrome on the outer portions and the unique shape. The tiny little magnets are also a nice touch. I also thought that integrating the antenna for the radio onto the jack of the earbuds was also pretty cool.

The included ear buds suck. Practically no bass response. Nothing under 100 Hz.
They're good as an emergency backup, but no way would I willingly use them for more than a few minutes. The magnets are gimmicky. A mechanical attachment mechanism would be a lot more useful. |

Well now that I've finally got my grubby paws on a shiny new Zune I have to say that the headphones aren't bad for "stock" - yeah, they're no super high-end killer bass response mega buds, but they get the job of dumping decibels into my earholes! I've still got my eyes (or should that be ears?) on the v-moda buds, but that won't likely happen until later.

I'm not sure if this is the best price, but for those of you looking to get those v-moda's
http://www.shop4tech.com/user.htm?go...&cata=&s_cata= http://www.shop4tech.com/user.htm?go...&cata=&s_cata= $90 - 10% (Coupon: XMAS10 expires DEC 19) - $10 (using Google Checkout) + Free Shipping = ~$71 (sorry if this is against the rules especially for my first post. I have no affiliation with them, I'm just trying to give a few people out there a bit of a heads up) EDIT: I just noticed there is a refer a friend program on their site. Just to clarify, the above two links are not referrer links. If skeptical just go to http://www.shop4tech.com and search up V-Moda. Unless of course you would like to be referred ![]() |
