Default Car Charger

I just bought the zune car charger by MS. Generally works like any other charger. Discovered that the backlight stays on all the time with the chargeris attached which is a good thing in my opinion. However, it does not allow you to power down the player while it is plugged in like other chargers (ipod, creative, iriver) do. I hold the >= button down forever and nothing; stays powered on. Upon unplugging the charger, I am able to power down. Nothing major, but I thought I'd mention it as someone else may experience this as well.

This works the same as when tethering the Zune to your computer to charge....it won't power down down while connected/charging.

Yes, but it would be nice if you could power down with the car charger especially. For example, if my zune is half-charged when I leave for work it will not be charged by the time I arrive. If I could power it down, like I can do with my Ipod, iriver and creative players, I can leave it plugged in and it will charge by the time I use the car again. Rarely a need to charge it at home via USB and no reason to spend money on a wall wart. I never charge my DAPs at home, only in the car. Same with my cellphone. Not a big deal, but it would be nice.

I'm just sitting here playing with mine on the USB connection, but.....

If it's paused, it should at least time out and go black. At least, that's what it does on the computer w/o the Zune software running. You can't force it to power down though, just pause it, and click the hold switch over and see what it does when it times out.

You are right, the backlight does go off when paused.
