pains of a plastic case

Hi! I'm about to trade in a ipod 80 gb for a zune 80, but theres one problem: I had a plastic case for the ipod that totally destroyed the device. The screen, everthing, was scratched or nicked. The back become warped and it looked like it had large dents in it. All I did was put it in that plastic case. I took it to the apple store where they said was that I had gotten debris inside the case and there was nothing else I could do. I was upset about this.

So from then on I have been skeptical about plastic cases. I don't want my zune to meet the same fate. Are there any suggestions? I would actually like to use a plastic case again.

i have a plastic case and to avoid damage i just take it off at the end of every week and and wipe it down/wash it. So far my zune has no warp damage, scratches, etc.
