Default Plastic screen cover is distracting...time to destroy it?

Hi everyone. I got this Zuneone.net Leather case (zuneone.net/prodimages/80leatherFront.jpg) for my Zune 80.

I like the case, but the plastic screen cover is distracting in the way it distorts glare from light sources. I think that's mainly because it doesn't lay flat, but instead it ripples a bit. Does anyone have any ideas how to remedy that? I'm thinking I should just cut the plastic cover out. The screen is supposed to be scratch resistant anyways, right?

If you cut the plastic, at least find a good adhesive screen protector.

Zune screen are practically bulletproof.
I've had my zune in my pocket with like 20 quarters dime nickels pennies and the like and it is still scratch free.

Where as i've seen people that do have scratches it's nothing compared to a plastic screen like on my cellphone. It's basically unreadable now.

I have yet to see a noticeable scratch on a single zune 2. The only one I have seen, my friend attempted to point out on his 4 gig, but it was just about microscopic. I don't think you need a screen protector.
