I have ordered a 80gb Zune and it should be here tommorow.
I am wondering about the sound quality of the Premium headphones it comes with compared to the Skullcandy range. Its just Im going travelling around europe in a week or so and want to make sure I have good sounding/looking phones. The skullcandy range catches my eye and Iv heard that the bass can be very good. Does anyone know how the following models might compare to the Premium Zunes? Full Metal Jacket Lowrider Hesh G.I Thanks. |

Skullcandy is a very mediocre brand, if you want good sound they're to be avoided, their products are fashion accessories, not serious headphones. The Zune Premium's are also mediocre compared to others in their price-range when sold separately (for included earphones, they're better than most, I'm told Sony has the best included earphones for some of their players).
Tell me the price range you're looking in, and the kind of headphones you want (in-ear, portable/street headphones, open cans, closed cans, etc.), and I can make better recommendations. Last edited by HipHopScribe : 06-12-2008 at 10:34 AM. ![]() |

I have Skullcandy FMJ (9mm) and I like them ... but I don't think they are any better than the premium headphones you will receive with your zune 80. You will probably like the premiums, so I would just save the cash to purchase the Skullcandy and use it for something else on your trip.

I haven't used the skullcandy, but I have a pair of these: http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...5138&langId=-1
$20 off of amazon and sound pretty gnarly. Idk how the Zune premiums compare ![]()

Cool, Ye I was looking at the FMJ's actually.
Have any of you had experience with V-Moda Vibes? they do a real nice looking Red ear phone that would suit my Zune perfectly. Heres a link, let me know if they would be an improvement over the Premiums. amazon.com/V-MODA-Vibe-Earbuds-Red-Roxx/dp/B000MS0528 |

The Vibes should be an improvement over the premiums, but they're still not really a good value, only the first generation of Vibes are really good, the later generations are kind of mediocre. Around that price, this would be my suggestion

I don't know much about these, but I've used some of the lower JVC models and they're good for the price, so these should be pretty good
There's also these, but I'm sure they're far more then you want to spend, thuogh they're supposed to be excellent http://www.soundearphones.com/produc...7ffee25aef3073 EDIT: I looked around for some opinions on the JVC pair, and they seem pretty positive, so that should be a good buy. Sorry, I don't know much about skullcandy ones. But I can tell you that I think the included premium headphones are awesome- the quality is great and they seem very durable. They look cool and they are magnetic, which is a nice touch. So I say check out the premium ones they come with and see if you like them first, then if not check out some other ones.

I can't find much on the Otto's, I'd probably avoid them if I were you, but the Audio-Technica are probably a good option, that's usually a pretty good brand. I'd suggest either those or the JVC I posted earlier if you want red earphones, the JVC a little more since I've been able to find more opinions on them. It also seems the Audio-Technica pair might take a while to get to you if ordered from that site, while you can rely on quick shipping from Amazon for the JVC's.

If you are looking for bold headphones I cant help you there, but if you want one that can perform then I recommend this. I have been using them for a while now and they are great.

Right I think I have cut the selection down to 2 phones.
Either the Q-Jays or Ultimate Ears Super Fi Pro 5's. Or the Pro 5 Extended bass. I would like to know which would be best for my music style. I do like bassy music, such as Drum & Bass, Dubstep and Hardstyle, but I also like other stuff like rock etc. Can anyone tell me which would be best? |

i like my skull candys they were on sale at fye, the thing i like about em, is they have good sound quality, and they block out the outside noise, allowing for you to not have to put your volume up on ur headphones if u want to enjoy the music without letting the world hear it and without hearing the world, i like em.

I have one more pair you should consider, I thought you were interested in a lower price range, or I would have suggested them earlier, the Future Sonics Atrio series, they should offer you the bass you want, as well as the great mids necessary for rock http://www.anythingbutipod.com/archi...-m8-review.php ![]() |

Thanks a lot for the help dude,
Ive gone with the UE Pro 5's in black, they seem to be the best option out of the 3 as you say. Il report back and let you know how they are .Ive heard that some phones need running in/breaking in, will these need to be? If so is there a guide which explains the proper way to do it? Thanks again. |
