OK...please don't laugh.
I've never had in-ear headphones. I want to make sure that I'm wearing them correctly. I'm currently wearing them with the smallest ear-bud and most music is loud enough at volumes from 1 to 3. I don't think that's right. Also, how do you use the included cable management thingy? (the pink thing). Thanks |

You just want to use a seal thats comfortable in your ear, and creates a sort of "suction" without getting too deap into your ear canal. if 1-3 is loud enough, that could be a good thing(meaning the seal is stopping outside noise) but if you've got it so far wedged into your ear that it's loud just because it's so close to your eardrum, you may have a problem.
![]() Edit: btw, I don't know what to do with the pink thing.

As soccerfreak24 explained how to use the headphones, I'll explain the pink thing. The pink thing has a black circle with the Zune logo attached, with an indentation. Push the cord into the indentation of the black circle, then, use the pink stretchy part like a rubber band and wrap it around the headphones, which you already have scrunched up/folded together. Thus, you can easily carry the headphones as they'll be nice and neat and wrapped up. So, the pink thing functions more or less like a rubber band to wrap the headphones.

You only get it from the retail version of the Premium headphones. When my pair broke, Microsoft sent me a retail box to replace them so I got one.

Start with the small squishy things and try the bigger ones to see which fit your ear with a tight and comfortable fit. The best fit ensures the best sound experience and the most comfortability

Compared to the Zune premium headphones, the iPod in-ear's are rubbish. I mean, I found a pair from my old iPod, and decided to try them out. I couldn't believe I was listening to music through those white plastic pieces of junk. Seriously, the iPod headphones ruin music for all that it's worth. Even though the premi headbuds aren't very high quality, they are leagues above the iPod earblobs ( I mean buds.)

They're much better. However, even better alternatives to the Zune headphones exist. Look around, many threads have talked about good headphones.

O.K. first of all, make sure the headphones feel comfortable in your ears, if they don't, your probabley wearing them wrong! Take the headphone and insert it into the hole of your ear, make sure they are good and tight and they don't fall out! Also, you shouldn't be able to hear any outside noises, like talking. Also, while playing your music, it should be quit because the headphones are closer to your ear drums and you cant hear any outside noises. So give it a try!

If any of you are serious about sound I'd for for overear headphones. I've got AKG181s, the flagship DJing headphones and they sound awesome, the bass and clarity is second to none.
I still have a pair of in-ears for when I'm travelling, that is all though. |

I have a pair of in-ears but I can only wear it in one ear. My right ear just hurts when its in. Its not because I push it in too far or anything and I have tried 3 different sizes for the rubber "seal"

Won't do you any good on the second gens: no EQ. It doesn't sound terrible, but such expensive headphones will give you zero benefit over $50 ones on the Zune. Even $10-$30 ones sound pretty good. But the Zune really can't handle audiophile level of audio.

The lack of an EQ just effects the tweakablity of the audio, it only means you need to get earphones that have good synergy with the sound signature of the Zune, it doesn't mean the sound quality isn't relaitvely high. Many audiophiles would say that no DAP has audiophile quality sound (except an iMod paired with a high quality amp), but in relative terms, the Zune 80 is one of the better sounding players on the market in my opinion, and the benefits of higher quality earphones can certainly be heard.

if its canceling outside noise thats great. i wouldn't get the zune premiums unless they were free with your zune though, i would get the jvc in ears or philips in-ears.

I've only tried the Zune in-ear headphones, but they don't seem to work for me. The only ones that feel comfortable are the smallest cushion, but they don't block out sound so I just use my old Zune 30 headphones. The rest do block out sound, but fall out extremely easy.
