Hi,
I have a Zune 8 and am loving the durable glass screen. I want to continue to enjoy it, however, and keep it scratch free. Is a screen protector neccesary? I usually throw it in a pocket along with a pair of headphones. If you do think I need a protector, what type do you recommend? I don't like the texture of the Invisible Shield, so something smooth would be preferred. Thanks, alec |

It isn't glass on the Zune 8, do you mean the 80?
Anyway, I would recommend any old screen protector, the invisible shield is not what it is cracked up to be. It is tacky. Zune 4/8: http://cgi.ebay.com/4x-Screen-Protec...QQcmdZViewItem Zune 80:http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-screen-prote...2em118Q2el1247

well you can mainly buy any brand of screen protector and it should work perfectly.. but just be sure to not buy Fellowes. WriteRight, those won't last long at all..

i dont think a screen protector is necessary. but it would be a nice little boost of confidence if you do decide to get one. And any type of one should be clear enough to not mess up the viewing capabilities

Glass tends to attract a lot more finger smudges than plastic does, while glass is very scratch resistant. So with a layer of plastic over the glass, you'd be covered in both departments really well. This would be excellent for resale value!

Well, I've noticed with my zune 8 that a screen protector was not needed. Me and my friend have a zune 8 and 4, and after a bout a year of use, my friend finally noticed 1 tiny scratch... and he's not using any sort of zune protection whatsoever. I think the main thing the protector will help with is stopping dust particles from entering the zune. So, if your worried about dust getting through the crack between glass/zune, I think it's needed. But if your getting it to stop scratches, you don't really need one.
