Yes it is compatible. I bought one a couple of week ago and it works great. The only drawback was that in order for the Zune 80 to fit in the slot you have to remove the face plate. It takes a lot away from the looks of the base so i just cut the face plate to where it would fit the 80. other than that, I don't really think there are any benefits to getting the V2 because this has the same functionality and it was much, much cheaper (buy.com has the same one for like 27 bucks including shipping). I actually just ordered a second one for use in my car...

I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.[/

you don't. To fit the 80gb model you have to remove the silver face plate. This leaves a shiny black surface on the top but there is no Zune logo and there is a hole in it where the silver face plate latches on to. What I did was on the face place, I cut out the slot where the zune goes and sanded it down so that it would fit the 80gb model. worked great and it only took me about 15 minutes or so.

dosn't an a/v kit defeat the purpose of portable ness? I take that back I guess it would be good for a car tv or hotel room.

???????? Ex-squeeze me ?????????

An AV kit expands the capabilities of your zune. Not only is it portable, but with the AV kit you can listen to your zune through your stereo and watch zune videos on your TV. Plus, you get a remote to control your zune from across the room. I love it.

@Dougiebaby

If you buy the dock separately (not the whole AV Kit), does it come with a remote?

That's so sleek . I want one, but it's really just a waste since you can get audio/video cables for like $5 at walmart. The remote is a plus, I guess, plus it looks great. It's more so for looks than functionality, though.

Floorpuncher, any pics? Especially the one in the car. I would love to see how you 'modded' the doc. I was told by M$ that I couldn't do it. If I could get this working, I am so modding one to a cup holder in the dash of the denali. How cool would that be?

This sounds great and it is only $20 on buy.com. I need a way to listen to my music when going to sleep and have it charge at the same time, and this seems like the solution. So all I have to do is remove the face plate so my zune 80 will fit? Does anyone have any pics of what it looks like with no face plate? Also, if I want to get a video cable so I can watch videos from my zune 80, how much is that? And it plays podcasts right?

This last weekend I got the travel kit and the docking kit for $10.00 each at the local swap-meet. Both very nice products B.T.W.

The headphones are busted which is OK cause I like the Cx300's better, but everything else is fine.

I got the V2 one half a week ago and I just love this thing! First thing that I do when I get home from work is drop it in the dock and put some music on. It's works so good.

Question

Great add-on. I got a question. Do we have to put the zune in the dock base in order to charge it or could use the ac adapter separately to charge the zune someplace else apart from the dock base?

Thanks in advance.

You can charge it either way.
The dock is not necessary for charging or syncing.
