Default Zune Car Pack v2 (review)

Along with my Zune and other stuff, i got the car pack (this onethis one ) though my price was much lower, around $45. Anyway, i opened it up today and tried it out:

My only worry is that even though the sound is clear, for some reason even at close range, (which i'm guessing this is something most transmitters suffer from) there is a bit of static, and it only REALLY goes away when i'm not moving.

Other than that, i like it, it has a neat holster for the plug when not in use, the transmitter control magnetically attaches to the back of the power plug. It even lights up nicely in low light.

Another great point is that it doesn't use the Zune's own volume, even at 0 volume on the player, the device transmits at a set level, so you only have to fiddle with the radio knob . And another good thing is that it charges the Zune, which unlike those cassette or audio jack ones, doesn't leave you with a dead player on long journeys, you can charge it in the car like yer phone.

In summary, even though i'm probably going to get another head unit with a jack, this device was well worth the money, and i'm sure il use it for it;s life

Note: the car pictured was a rental, hence the audio jack, my car is borked till tomorow

My basic result was this, if you are saving for this, but have the ability to get a headunit with an audio jack with a little bit more money, get the head unit.

Direct audio will always sound better than regular radio

i bought it a couple of months ago, i like it alot.

sure there is some static interference in some places but its not bad enough where it will hinder the music quality.

I find that a tape with a jack at the end is a great substitute for an Aux. In jack.

Good review. However, I have the iTrip Auto Universal (or some other variation of those words). It uses the headphone jack so it works for anything with a headphone jack. Plus, it has a USB port, allowing it to charge any MP3 player or some other gadget with a USB cord. I find the flexibility superior.

I didnt think of the iTrip till it was too late, i was only eyeing Zune stuff since i forgot the headphone jack was an alternative, still, once i swap my headunit, all should be well

There is static, not enough to put you off, but it is annoying. Also, there isn't that much free frequency through the band, so i have to go really low 88s. Problem is, everyone else has that idea, so every once in a while i get totally random music :/
