Default Incredible $9.49 earphones!!!!

Hey everyone,

I just picked up a pair of Sony MDR-Q22 clip-on earphones for $9.49 at BB. I gotta say these are totally sweet! And if you consider the price of <$10, it's a steal. Normally, these are $20 at other retailers.

There is a single cord that goes from the zune to left earclip, then a separate cord that runs from left to right earclip behind your head (vs. a traditional Y cord going to both right and left). And they come with 2 colored covers -- blue and silver.

Compared to the standard Zune earbuds and my recently acquired Skullcandy Full Metal Jackets (see my review in another post), these little Sonys offer unmatched clarity, better soundstage, and much better bass response (compared to the stock earbuds but not the Skullcandy FMJ).

Obviously, these have much larger 30mm drivers vs. the 9mm drivers of my Skullcandy inner canal phones, so the soundstage is much broader ... this means all of the instruments/voices/etc. of a song are not as compressed together and seem clearer. Compared to these, my Skullcandy's sound seems more "tunnel like." But interestingly, the bass on my 9mm Skullcandys is bigger and deeper.

They are supremely comfortable vs. inner canal or earbud style phones. And their open ear design allow you to hear your surroundings instead of being cancelled out.

These are a fantastic earphone for prolonged listening in an environment where there is limited noise -- like a quiet room at home.

They marry the design of earbuds (single earpieces that wont mess up your hair/so you can wear a hat) and the better sound of bigger over/behind the headphones.

And for those who like Snoopy, here ya go...

Hey everybody, as someone who has used these headphones extensively (easily over a year), I have to say they are excellent headphones for the price. Consider them Darth Camel-approved. And I only use my seal of approval for good quality products/companies who have paid me to do so. And no company has paid me to do so yet. I use these headphones and the Zune premium ones that I got with my Zune 80. The Sony headphones, however, are more comfortable when used for hours at a time, at least for me. They are annoying to untangle though.

Yeah, some of the less expensive Koss headphones are better values, I have the Koss KSC75's, much better than these Sony's, but the Sony's aren't bad for the price.

And how exactly are they better? Do you have both headphones to compare? I like the look of the Sony headphones anyway.

Yes, I own both, the KSC75's are pretty much better in every way, better bass, mids, highs, wider soundstage, and that's before modding them. Once you mod the 75's it opens them up even more (I made additional holes in the grille, and cut holes in the earpads, to allow more air to flow, it's called the Kramer mod) . The KSC75's are pretty much legendary for the sound quality they offer at such a low price.

That's not to say the Sony's are bad, they're better than most you'll get for the price.
