Default Absolute best headphones?

Let's say price really isn't too big of an issue. What would be the best headphones? I have the premium headphones right now but they can get pretty annoying. They seem to coil themselves and get all twisted up, can be semi-frustrating, I do however like how the magnets make it easy to wear just one bud. The cord seems excessively long also. I am short though. :S

I'm looking for buds preferably, with good sound and bass. I may just stick with the premiums but the way they get all coiled and twisted can make them a pain when trying to wear just one.

KN

There is no absolute best, and you should post a price range you want to look in, you can spend hundreds of dollars on earphones if you really want something amazing, but I'm guessing you don't want to do that, so some guideline as to what you are willing to spend will make this easier.

Future Sonics Atrio series seems like a great choice, here's review, from a trustworthy reviewer who knows his stuff.

I've also heard great things about the Denon AH-C700Denon AH-C700 .

I believe the "general consensus" (by audio review mags & the population at large) is that Shure has the best buds.

A friend and my niece swear by theirs as the best.

Obviously, this is a very subjective matter just as ... what's the best car? what's the nicest color? etc.

Good luck in your decision and let us know what you choose.

i wouldn't recommend the ones that greg said.. but in this world, there will not be the best earphones/headphones... i'll say go on circuitcity.. and see what they got on sale.. like the JVC Gumy or marshmallow.. those go for cheap price... pretty good..

Wrong wrong wrong. The absolute best headphones on the market are the high-end Sennheisers (www.sennheiserusa.com) or high end AKG headphones (www.akg.com)

I have to agree with Marshillboy. If God needed a pair of headphones, He'd get these.

No one person can say what THE best is, especially when it's something that varies person to person as we all hear differently......some people like lots of bass, others lots of highs, some can't hear the highs, etc., but if you want a decent set of cans and don't want to break the bank, you really can't go wrong with Sennheiser HD 212Pro's. I picked up a pair not too long ago and they are wonderful, and you can get them online for less than $50...I paid $60 for mine but I wanted them right then and there.

Thanks all who replied. It's looking like Sennheiser is going to be my choice, not sure which yet, have very little free time to research. :<

I'll post back once I figure out which to get and maybe do a review. :O

before you make your decision, try to get headphones with a feature called "noise canceling" if price isn't an issue, its a must if you want good quality sound.

i know of some that go up to $1000. They literally have three speakers in each headphone....one for highs one for mids and one for lows.......they are freaking amazing.....
if you want AMAZING lows....go for the UM2's by Westone. But they're like $300. so....yeah....

on open ear models, yes, but on closed ear models, the "noise cancelling" feature is more gimmick than anything considering the closed ear type blocks out most of the ambient noise simply by design anyway.

it's not a gimmick if it really does block out noise one way or the other...

In my opinion noise isolation is preferable to active noise canceling, since there is no added weight from additional components, no need for a power source, and they're probably more universally effective.
