Default Review: Philips SHS5200 headphones

The Philips 5200 headphones are a great alternative to earbuds. The street style (behind the head/neck) and the comfortable on ear pads are so much more dynamic than most earbuds. Plus you do not suffer from ear bud pain after extended use.

Their dynamic range is 12-24,000Hz which is broader than many other headphones in this price range (about $15).

Lastly, they have a reflective neckband which is perfect for night joggers.

I highly recommend them as an inexpensive way to highten your zune listening experience.

I've tried quite a few cheap headphones/earphones, I don't remember if these are specifically the Philips I've tired, but in that price range I'd personally suggest Koss KSC75 over anything else, I think they're probably the best value (and a lot of people agree on forums such as head-fi.org), they especially sound great when you get to modding them. And yes, good headphones are generally much better sounding than good earbuds/canalphones/IEMs at the same price, it's just the nature of the designs.

Here's a pic...

Another nice feature is that they have a fabric cord, like the premium zune earbuds, that attaches only to the left side and not a "Y" connection between both right/left.

Also, the "string" attached to the cord is a safety bungee that will take the stress if the cord is pulled ... so that the cord is not yanked out of the earpiece.

Well, I found the old Philips behind the ear ones I had, they were a different model, so I'm gonna check these out and see how they compare to my KSC75s, they're not much, so I figure, what the hell.

Be sure to add your "review" to the forum -- the more input people have, the better decisions they can make.
