Well if money is no object and you've got over $100 to blow, go with Bose. That's who I'd go with.

Bose is pretty widely regarded as having ridiculously overpriced products for the quality they provide by people really into audio equipment.

Well I've tried their products in store and they've absolutely blown me away. Their headphones are amazing and their home audio system is just phenomenal. To each his own, though.

In what way? Price or quality? All of the audio equipment (stereo) I own is by Sony. I've never spent more than $40 on headphones and they were from Apple.

See, that's the issue, if it's the only equipment you've heard in the price range you can't really judge its value against the real competition. People don't usually say Bose equipment sounds horrible or anything, it's not that, it's just you can supposedly get far better for the same price from other companies.

Care to post some links then? If this is true, then I'd love to read some reviews of their competition. Might as well if I plan on putting up the cash. This could help the original poster as well.

Head-Fi is a great forum for all things audio

Here's one article specifically about Bose, with some links to some more audio sites and info on alternatives for speaker systems.

I've gotta agree with HipHop that Bose is way overrated & way overpriced in all AV catagories. But like the iPod, the public at large thinks that Bose is INCREDIBLE.

However, in any hi end audio/video forum you will find that the members usually refer to Bose as "Blose."

Bose DOES have nice products, however, you can normally find better equipment from other higher end manufacturers at the same price (and sometimes less).

I got the Sennheiser PX100's off of amazon.com and they have great bass and good sound. They were only about $40. Not sure if the price has changed though.

If someone wants ove the head headphones I totally agree with JawaKing -- the Senn PX100s are just about the best headphones you can get and easily compete with headphones costing 10x as much ... yes, I am comparing them to $400 headphones.

I seriously doubt anyone on this board (including me) has the headphone/audiophile "ear" to find fault (performance) with the PX100s. The only "fault" might be a style preference (i.e. you do not like outer ear over the head headphones).
