Default Question about auxiliary jacks from Zune to car faceplate receiver

I was wondering if there are any auxiliary cables for the zune that plug into the bottom, like the sync cable for zunes do, and then directly into your faceplate/deck/receiver for your car's audio system rather than from the headphone jack to the receiver (which results in quality loss).

I haven't seen one

I also don't see the logic here either as the signal will still have to be processed thru the headphone jack on the faceplate so the end result will be the same. If you want to keep the quality you're gonna have to wait and pick up a Zune interface box.

At the moment there is no car stero that is compatible with the zune directly. However, I hear Kicker Car Audio are going to release one soon.

Define directly.

Reason I say that is because in order to play and control iPods through stereo's you must use an iPod interface, just the same you can use a Zune interface to play on a select few stock stereo's using this interface box.

You can also use the Harmon Kardon Drive+Play 2 connected to any stereo, aftermarket or stock, to play your Zune through your car stereo system.

You can also use the aux port on alot of aftermarket head units to connect your Zune, here's an example of one for Kenwood

So there you have it, plenty of options for connecting your Zune to your stereo.

There's a line of fairly cheap car stereos named VR3, sold by Wally world and target stores, that has a USB port and SD slot. The USB port works with many flash drives, but only with a small number of media players. Naturally enuf the Zune is not recognized by it. I'm hoping someday a firmware hack will allow the Zune to pass itself off as a MassStorageDevice and maybe work. For now the Aux in jack is better than nothing. But a USB connection gives noticeably better sound quality. (I have a home stereo with one also)

Also, when it comes to Zune cables, don't pay the inflated prices for Zune TV cable. A common "camcorder cable" looks the same and will work. But there are some AV cables that will not work - it depends where the ground connection is.
