Default Zune 30 Leather Flip Case Review

The Zune30 Leather flip case is one of the items you can win in the ZuneCentive program exclusively found here at ZuneBoards. So how does it look?
Brand: ZuneOne.net
Item Description: Zune 30 gig leather flip case
Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price: $20.00 (Currently $17.99)
Manufacturer's Description: "This classic design offers great access and excellent protection. Your Zune has to be ready for today's fast paced world. The Incipio Flip case is up to the task. The Flip case is made of premium supple leather on the outside and soft micro-suede lining."

Our Take:
"Fits great, the magnets add a nice appeal to the case. Its lightweight, and protects your zune from almost all angles. It also includes holes for the headphone jack, the connector, and the buttons."

The only thing I would be weary with, is that sometimes its hard to scroll through your music cause the case comes right up around the buttons, not really leaving any room for big thumbs.

Overview

zonePros:

- Fits great
- de-tatchable belt clip
- Great price
- Not the "cheap" leather.

Cons:
- Bigger hands might not like the access it gives to the button.

Rating: 8 out of 10

Do buy if: you need a way to protect your zune, or you wanna be stylish.
Don't buy if: you have big hands.

I'm kinda of iffy about the magnets though. And the fact that it doesn't have a screen protector. Or does it?

No screen protector besides the flip case part.

Big hands: You cant fit 4 fingers into a toilet paper roll.

As for the magnets, I havent had any problems.. And Im pretty sure zuneone wouldnt sell a product that would ruin your zune.

Default DO NOT BUY THIS

Guys I bought this case a few months ago after reading some recommendations and have discovered that this case has a fatal flaw. The magnets that hold the flap down are too strong and drain your battery twice as fast as it does without the case.

I work 12 hour days and without this case the battery lasts all day with almost constant mp3 listening. The 2 days I used the case my battery was shot in 6 hours or less. I stopped using the case and now battery life is back to normal. I have a friend with another 'flap' case held in place by magnets and they aren't nearly as strong and they are in this case. But I also cannot comment on the battery life using that case but its just an observation.

I emailed zuneone support asking for help with this and got absolutely no response. It was only 18 bucks and it isn't worth my money to ship this back or go through any more hassle with zuneone. I'm mainly disappointed that they never even acknowldged my email whatsoever. What better way to handle a 'dissatisfied customer' than to ignore them entirely.

runtohell121 - we are using different zunes and different cases so you really can't compare your experiences to mine. Possibly the topic creator can test out these claims.

A faulty zune is one that doesn't work properly. Without the case my zune works perfect. In the case which contains STRONG magnets the zune still works perfectly, the battery just dies fast. It is a commonly known fact that magnets and electronics don't mix very well in most cases. I know I don't have many posts or any kind of reputation around here but common sense will tell you that it is not the zune that is faulty.

I created a post about this a month or 2 ago no one with this case posted there. See my original post below.

http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/zun...e-via-usb.html

I posted in this topic so others could comment if they are having the same issue and because I am not happy with the way zuneone handled my complaint about this case. The least they could have done would be to prove or disprove my claims. Instead they ignored me and are still selling the same case to others. Who's to say that this won't damage your zune or zune battery over time. I think there is a reason this case is cheaper than other leather flip cases. I will not buy from them again.

Why can't they have this for the Zune 80? Actually, if I got a leather case, my girlfriend would kill me (she's a member of PETA).

Anyone else with this case want to test the battery life when their zune is in this case? I brought this up here hoping someone could confirm this. Maybe zuneone will actually try and do something about it.

2 other comments about this case

1 - there is no window to protect the screen

2 - using the case its hard to hit the back and play buttons, you kinda have to dig with your finger to hit them. Its also harder to navigate with the middle wheel using the case.
