Default [Review]Skullcandy Ink'd Smokin' Bud earphones

My daughter wanted some earbuds for her iPod Nano(3rd gen) so she picked these one's out. She asked me first, and after hearing alot of good things about them here I signed off on it and picked them up from CC today for $14.99.

I just listened to them on my Zune and have concluded this:

1. The are some pretty cool looking earbuds, the anodized red is a nice touch.
2. They are very comfortable once you get them in your ears
3. They can be a little tricky to get seated in your ear since they're so little
4. The bass response is respectable, nothing to brag about but fulfilling
5. The mids/highs leave much to be desired
6. After dealing with the Zune Premium earbuds, the rubbery coating on the Skullcandy's cord feels very cheap and looks the same.

I listened to a few of my go to songs when testing SQ:

52nd Street - Tell me how it feels
Tom Tom Club - Genius of love
The S.O.S. Band - No one's gonna love you
Keak da Sneak - Airplanes, trains and automobiles
The Eagles - Hotel California

On each and every song it was the same, lovely bass response, a very hollow and almost tinny sounding high end with a slightly muddy midrange. Overall, the Zune premiums are far better to listen to but the bass response is lacking, especially when compared to the Skullcandy's.

If it were me, I'd be taking these earbuds back to the store cause with exception of the bass, they sound like garbage. I would not recommend these buds to anyone but bassheads.

I'll give a short review also, this is a total garbage headphones, don't go buy it, even if its $10 don't bother buying it!!!! the sound is bad, like no bass at all, i keep on trying and trying.. i thought the plug or something was wrong.. then i guess.. it wasn't.. it was the headphones that barely had any bass in.. I would recommend JVC marshmallow which is $20 at wal mart, $25-$30 at circuitcity and $20 at fry's. target do not sell JVC marshmallow.

Wow, on the pair my daughter has the bass is better than the Zune premiums, but that's all that's better.

then either there was a problem with your earbuds or with the connection on the Zune..........or you just didn't get a good seal cause the bass on my daughters' buds is pretty damn good.

I have a set of the low riders and they are very nice (i know they rnt the ear buds but meh) generally i would trust skull candy seen as they make DJ headsets so should usually give good bass but this might be why they dont give nice mid/high's
but then i havent noticed that with my set

Hey dumb question maybe, but the skull candy earbuds dont have left and right markings, does this mean they can be used on both sides. kinda like socks?

What model? You didn't pay for them did you? I'd feel cheated if I paid for them and that's how they sounded, unless I was a basshead.

I like my sennheiser CX 300's much better. I hope to get some sennheiser headphones, which I know are much better than anything that skullcandy offers. They only thing that is good about skullcandy is the appearance. The sound quality of all their products is utter crap. There are a lot better alternatives out there. Unfortunately it is becoming a fad at my school..

Hmm, the earbuds as you said, just look cheap... Are they completely solid? b/c I got a pair of vmoda vibes, and their quite nice, although I havent been able to compare em to the zune premium

Meh, I have a pair and they're not bad, they're better than the ones I got for free with other things. They suck in comparison to the Premiums, but they're my back up pair and a good value for only $10.

That reminds me, I have to get my premium headphones back...
