Shopping at my local Target the other day, and I came upon
these. Now, being the conservative headphone shopper I am, Im not gonna just pay ten bucks for another iPod ear bod knock-off, but I was feeling adventurous. So, I got them at a markdown price (orign. 29.99, Skullcandy's are usually pretty pricey) and popped open the case. They came with three different size ear cones, gel-like, that fit depending on ear size (I had to switch to the small). After inserting these into my ear canal (I am normally uneasy with buds, I am a fan of the old school tin can style headphones) I noticed something. Silence. Yes, these were wonderfully enough noise isolating. Note: NOISE ISOLATING, not CANCELLING. Lower pitches can still be heard, but a lot is muted, which I can say is a nice feature. Now, onto the wonderful news:
These don't sound like ass. I know, that is a bizarre conviction, but after many, many ear buds tried, I just could not find a pair that deliver the definition and clarity of my current cans (Denon DJ), but after hearing these, they actually sound at least 10x better than the higher SC model the Smokin' Buds. They were more comfortable, and delivered incredible highs, and astonishing lows for a bud.
The only bad news is the the construction quality that plagues most Skullcandy audio phones. The stress relief on the cable came off after only a few days, and they feel a little fragile. Never the less, I payed little for them, and to this day (about 3 months later) they still work, and I have no issues currently.
In short, if you like the bud style, and the mobility of the ear bud, pick these up. No joke, these are easily one of the better deals on ear buds at the moment.
