It would be more of a novelty item for me than an actual daily-used product... although i couldn't help notice that it has the same range as the wireless sync on the zunes.... I wonder if you can use them with your comp? that'd be nice if you wanted to keep you music private
Not all wireless earphone suck. If you don't have interference, you won't have static.
Some wireless earphones are basically a FM transmitter + a FM receiver + earphone. Good FM transmitter transmit stero sound. Those kind are pretty good in terms of signal quality and range. I bought a no name FM wireless earphone for $10 has about 50M/160~feet range and rarely any static at all.
