Default Thoughts on 3rd party chargers? Safe?

Anyone have experiences with the inexpensive charges found on ebay?

I tend to buy proprietary, but if I'm wasting money and can get a $2 cable that does the same as the $15 one, I'll easily make the switch.

I'm just worried about the damage it may cause my zune.

If you mean a USB cable, go for it.

Yeah, I should have been more clear.

I'm thinking of a USB cable and a car charger.

USB cable doesn't worry me as much as a car charger, and I'm wondering if I should be concerned at all.

Yeah what ChameoleonMK said, you gotta make sure the voltage is right or it will permanently damage your Zune battery.

Well, hell, if that's the case, I have an old iPod car charger around I can use.

Thanks, all!

I do have a comment on this. CompUSA is going out of business and had a 3rd party combination wall/car charger with a retractable cable. I bought one and my brother bought one. The first day my brother used it to charge his Zune 4 and the ZunePad stopped working. We got it replaced. A few weeks later my wife charged her Zune with the cable and the same thing happened on her 80. We were able to drain the battery and then recharge it and it started working again but since then I have only used the retractable USB cable as I don't want it to happen again. I don't know if that was the cause or just a coincidence.

Does anybody have experience with the portable usb chargers? Like you put 4 AA batteries in and it will charge the zune? I need one of those.
