Ipod to Zune Converter

Does anyone think someone will release an Ipod to Zune converter. A small device that you can plug into the bottom of your Zune so that it has the iPod connection to take advantage of some of the accessories. Also, when the handful of airlines that are going to offer iPod connections, something like that would be nice.

And as I don't have an iPod, how different are the connections? Is this even possible?

I don't no about this. It would be nice if it happened but I really doubt it would. Apple probably has a patent on the plug-in design and wouldn't allow it to be applied to any Zune concepts/accessories. But, like I said, it would be a great accessory.

This would be pretty great actually. ipod has a 5-year headstart and there are a lot more accessories out there (although I was surprised by how many accessories are available for the Zune already). The big one for me is car adapters. BMW and VW are currently equipping cars with ipod adapters. Car manufacturers move SLOW and I doubt we'll see a Zune adapter in any cars any time soon. True, there is a Zune car kit but it broadcasts over FM (not my idea of high fidelity) and there will be hardwired 3rd party accessories but they will never look as good as stock and they will cost a lot to install.

I do agree that Apple would take a dim view of this (although I'm sure MSFT wouldn't be too upset at the outset, even though I bet they make money on the accessories the same way Apple does). But you might see low-volume kits on Ebay...
