I have an iPod input on my car stereo but not a standard 1/8" auxiliary input jack; since I got my Zune, I've been trying to find some sort of adapter with no luck. So, I have been suffering with an FM transmitter.

Now that has finally changed. I stumbled across this by some random iPod dock Google search and once I found the how-to, it led to 2 other ready made products.

Building an Aux Input Cable for Bose SoundDock

Cable Jive SoundDock Cable (ready made version of the how-to)

Ridax iPod dock adapter This is the one I bought.

Don't post over and over again just to get your post count up.

Default Well, not exactly what I wanted

I got the Ridax adapter that does not send a voltage signal back to my car stereo, therefore my stereo didn't even recognize that there was anything plugged in to it.

Next I purchased the Cable Jive cable and while it did send a signal to my stereo, my stereo would still not play sound. See, my stereo uses the ipod connection to also control playlists and navigate all ipod functions through an XM radio interface. Therefore each playlist (or whatever menu you are in) appears as an XM radio station to my stereo. Neither adapter does tells the radio that it is playing a playlist or in a menu so the radio won't even start to accept an audio signal even though it knows something is plugged in.

So if you have an ipod accessory that simply is an audio interface device (FM transmitter, stereo dock) you could still use these accessories.

For others that offer Ipod control, these probably won't work for you.

I hope someone develops a real converter soon and then everyone else reverse engineers it and the price is as cheap as all the ipod accesories.
