Zune8 won't save settings

I'm having some issues trying to save my settings when turning off my Zune8. I change my touch from on to off, or I turn off wireless. When I press the Play/Pause to put it in sleep mode the settings are fine. However, when I press the back and zunepad down (to shut it off to save the battery) and then turn it back on, all of my settings are removed and it back to the base settings. I'm on firmware version 2.5(1614).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
