Default Zune 80GB Problem- Backlight on; playing music, but no picture; the screen is blank

hi guys, i'm totally new to this forum.

i have a zune 80gb and today its screen just went black. it has not been dropped or what so ever.

the backlight is on, the music plays fine but there is no picture/video on screen. Nothing shows on the screen. Even when you reset it doesnt show the zune logo.

i have tried resetting it like 30 times but nothing seems to take effect. i dont think there is anything wrong with the lcd right; because the backlight is on.

Even when the usb is plugged, it syncs fine and is detected perfectly by the computer; the just the screen that is driving me nuts. any suggestions.

Oh and the firmware and eveything is uptodate

UPDATE: AFTER A NUMEROUS AMOUNTS OF RESETS, I MANAGED TO GET THE ZUNE LOGO; THE ZUNE SHOWED UP ALL MENUS BUT WHEN I PLAYED THE MUSIC, EVERYTHING WENT HEYWIRE. THE TEXT WENT ALL BLURRY AND DIAGONAL, VERY HARD TO EXPLAIN; A GOOD EXAMPLE IS; WHEN THE VGA CABLE OF MONITOR IS NOT PLUGGED IN PROPERLY, AND THE IMAGES AND TEXT ON SCREEN APPEAR BLURRY, SLANTED AND UNCLEAR.

does it show the background or the entire screen in blank?

if it's the background, it means that song doesn't have an album cover assigned to it.

if it's blank, there's a firmware issues and you may need to reinstall the firmware. Try wiping the drive by turning off the Zune (hold the back and down buttons together for 6 seconds) and then turn it back on and reset (hold the back, center, and play button simultaneously). Plug your Zune back into your computer. If that doesn't work, you'll need to call customer support at 1-877-GET-ZUNE 7 days a week, 9am-9pm EST...

Hope that helps...

ok, i tried calling microsoft but they cannot help me, because im in UK. I actually bought it from ebay brand new since i do not have any relative, friends or anyone in the north american continent, this piece of thing is useless.

its not the background, its the entire screen. Like i said, i later discovered that after many reboots, i managed to get zune logo but as soon as i played a song. the whole screen went ballistic. text went blurry (like not getting right reception from an ariel)

AND HOW DO YOU RESINTALL FIRMWARE BECAUSE I ORIGINALLY THAT IS THE PROBLEM. SINCE EVERYTHING IS WORKING FINE.

To reinstall firmware, you need to reformat the player by deleting everything off it then plug it back into the computer and opening up the zune software.

Seeing as you bought it from ebay and the player software is broken you won't be able to get it fixed under warranty >.<

does the zune have a small video card? or something that does the same thing? cause my computer had the same problem a few months ago when i tried to play a game, it wouldn't work. like the screen is all messed up and everything's out of place. i had to reinstall my video card. so try reinstalling your firmware?
