I got my 80gb zune 3 days back, I live in India.
Since the time i have unboxed & tried running, it is giving me the "3 Please wait" screen. I have tried all the key combinations & the drain battery/charge thing. I even let it stay connected to the USB for 8 hours straight, nothing seems to work for me. Since i stay in India, sending it back is not an option. I need some urgent help regarding this, thanks! |

Did you install the firmware onto the device?
Try uninstalling and reinstalling the software?

First you install the Zune Software on the computer.
Next, you hook the Zune up to the computer so that it activates the device. Also, you might want to update the firmware as 2.5 just got released this week.

The zune software IS installed on my computer (ver. 2.5, latest)
When i connect the zune to my laptop via the USB cable, it shows a battery sign, then after a few minutes, the backlight comes on & the battery sign is still visible. After a total of 15 mins or so, i see the Zune logo in a black background & then straight away, the "3 Please Wait" message appears & stays there forever. This is extremely annoying :-( |

press and hold the back and up buttons until your zune resets, then press and hold the back, center and left buttons until the zune shows that it is reseting. Try plugging it in after that

I'm having the exact same problem. Except sometimes my screen also says "5. Contact Support". I live in Australia, so I can't return it. Also, everywhere I look, people always say to use different key combinations to reset the Zune, delete the firmware, etc. Trust me, I've tried all the combinations and none of them work. At one point, the Zune suddenly started working, and after trying to put an Animal Collective album on it, it broke down again and it's doing the same thing again.
I don't know if this helps, but I let it charge on the "please wait" screen for about two days. Then I let it die, and that's when it started working. I tried that again this time, but it didn't work. Plleeeeaaasseee help. I really need this Zune. I've been stuck with an iPod with a broken screen for about six months now. ![]() |

I'm also having this same problem, from looking about there seems to be a fair few of us out there with this issue, I have yet to find anyone who's got a working fix for this. I bought mine off ebay (as I'm in the UK) so I'm starting to worry that it's just become an expensive paperweight, I'd only had it 4 days when it died too... gutted! Somebody out there... pleeeeease help us!! lol! Mickey ![]() |

Same problem here, internet is full of this issue with no user resolution that I have been able to find. When I do the reset then left+touchpad+right button to erase everthing including firmware it just hangs on the 'please wait'. Wish this device had a proper reset button like my ZEN where it cuts power from the battery and resets.
Very disappointing - only 2 months old. |

Wow. A lot of people are having this problem, then. I got mine off of eBay at the beginning of June, and I have not had a single problem with it.

Yes it looks like some plague of death has hit the Zune Seriously though, I, like many others have bought their Zune on ebay. There appears to be no warranty support for it in the UK if this is the case as I soon found out when I tried to register for support from the UK.I have subsequently contacted the seller on ebay who I bought it from as it was listed as having warranty support as it was bought brand new. This seller has sold dozens of the Zune 80's to UK buyers. I havent had a reply yet today (sent the email first thing) but I do hope they are civilised and responsible in their business ethics. They sold it advertised with manufactures warranty. Basically, I dont know where I stand with this, but want it fixed either way. What it potentially amounts to is every Zune player sold in the UK through ebay doesnt have any warranty despite probably 99% of the ebay advertisements saying it comes with warranty. Who is liable in this instance? ![]() Last edited by Deeko : 07-25-2008 at 05:31 AM. |
