Issues Installing Firmware...
I just received my Zune today. It's an 80gb 2nd gen. When I plug in my Zune to the computer and the Zune software tries to install the firmware, an error message pops up that says "Can't sync because there isn't enough space on your Zune. Delete some items, then try again." I have no music in my music library, so this doesn't make any sense. - I've tried reinstalling the Zune software. - I've tried restarting my computer. - I've tried resetting my Zune. I don't know what else to do. Please help. >< ![]() |

There was another topic on this issue, and it said it was solved because the user let the battery drain completely and then it worked fine... I tried that too, and that was not the case for me. The only clue I can manage to come up with is that, after applying the Explorer registry hack, the 'hard drive' viewable by Explorer reads the Zune as being 1gb (which I believe was mentioned in some form in the other thread as well). There's a few people on zune.net that have this same issue, but not as many as with other issues that the 2.5 update brought, so I don't expect a MS answer anytime soon. So unless there's some way to get around this, I may just have to send mine into MS for repair, because this thing is *not* going away... - Diosjenin - |

Try what charmed says, and don't forget you can call 1877getzune, they may have an answer for this.

Thanks for the number. Would have found it eventually, but it's certainly helpful to have it now.
Tried doing soft and hard resets, software reinstallations, the whole drill - once through on my Vista Ultimate 32-bit boot, repeatedly on my XP Professional SP3 boot, and once through on my parents' XP Professional SP2 just for kicks. Same thing. I may try letting the batteries die on me again, but at this point it's looking like I'll have to send it in. - Diosjenin - Last edited by Diosjenin : 05-09-2008 at 10:37 PM. try one more thing, download this:
http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/zto...tch-4-0-a.html then open it and click "Patch" then go to My Computer> (your zune name)> right click "Storage" then click "Format" > then "ok"

Broken link, but I managed to infer and find it.
The idea occurred to me while working with the dirtier direct-Registry version of that hack. Unfortunately, whether using that method or the patch, right-clicking the aforementioned 'Storage' hard drive yields only the options Open, Explore, and Properties. Nor does Device Manager recognize it as an HDD using either method, so no beans there, either. - Diosjenin - |
