i was just reading around and found out that mp3 at 320 kbps doesn't sound as good as wma lossless. is it a good idea to re rip my cds so the sound can be better for the zune ?? i rent my music cd's to rip them , or just get them off the internet ... i don't want to use FLAC because not many apps support it ... nither does the zune 80 ....

i'm not sure... but mostly.. it really depends on the quality you first got the music from.. upconverting it to 320kbps still won't sound good... and i'm not sure about wma lossless.. and not sure can zune even support it..

Unless you have ungodly hearing, you will not hear the difference between 320 and lossless and you'll save 3/4 of the space you would otherwise take up.

Yeah, upscaling(?) the file will not make it sound any better. This would only help if you re-ripped the files, and even then, the difference might not be noticeable depending on what headphones or speakers you are using, or more complicated things like if you've damaged your hearing or not. Usually higher qualities just bring out more subtle sounds in songs, but they're not always picked up by cheaper headphones or speakers anyway.

wma lossless definately sounds better but u need good speakers to hear the difference. Its hard to explain the difference other than just saying richer sound you would just have to hear for yourself. you should first try ripping one song in wma lossless to see if u can hear the diiference if not there is no point in re-ripping your whole collection.

I would highly suggest you use wma pro 10 or wma 9.2 lossless. I hook up my zune to a home theatre speaker and wma pro 128kb/s sounds better than 320kbit/s mp3. WMA 9.2 lossless sounds exactly the same as the original cd just like its design to be.
If you have stock earphone, i would highly suggest you using wma 10 pro 64kbit - 128kb/s. 64kbit/s wma pro 10 sounds roughly the same as 192kbit/s mp3. ![]() |
