how to format HD on firmware 2.3?

hi everyone, i'm trying to downgrade my new 80G firmware from 2.3 -> 1.4 (to view chinese characters)

I'm following the sticky post and was able to reboot (back + up) but cannot seem to reformat (back+left+centre)

Tried:
holding (back+left+centre) immediately after it reboots.
holding (back+left+centre) before "zune screen"

does firmware 2.3 allow re-format? (back+left+centre) doestn seem to work.
What is the timing of this step?

Now I could be wrong...but you can't downgrade a generation 2 zune in this case your zune 80 to 1.4. 1.4 Only works for zune 30's I think..and wont work for the zune 80. So if you wanted a zune with that Asian characters hack thing...your should of got a 30. But wait for more replies because I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure you cant downgrade the firmware of the zune 80 to 1.4.

Christian is right, you cannot downgrade any V2 Zunes. (4GB/8GB/80GB)

thanks everyone. I guess i'll wait a little longer before i refund the 80G at bestbuy

Just curious, does back+Left+centre work on the 80G?
