Hi all. Thanks in advance for reading.
I'm using an 80g Zune running software v2.3. My computer is running Windows Vista SP1. My problem is that I am unable to turn my Zune on. I hold down play and it doesn't turn on. This is the second Zune in a row I have had this issue with. The first one I purchased went into this nonfunctional state as I tried to update the firmware. I turned the Zune on, the computer software told me it was updating, the screen went black and never came on again. I exchanged this for a new one and now have the same problem. This Zune updated correctly to 2.3 and was functional for a day or so. I held back and down to put it to deep sleep and left it on my desk. I went to work and came home, plugged the Zune into my computer to add some new media and pressed power. It would not turn on. I don't believe it's a dead battery, as I have left it plugged into my computer to charge for several hours and it is still in the same state. I don't believe it is a dead screen as the computer does not detect it when plugged in, regardless of however many times I try to turn it on. I don't believe I damaged it as, literally, it didn't move an inch in between its last time of functionality and its current state. I have read through numerous forums/help pages all to no avail. My concern at this point is that I have somehow damaged the operating system on the phone. I had trouble installing the Zune software (I received failed installation errors) which I remedied by using the disable rollback method described here: http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/161679-post25.html. I am just curious to see if anyone has experienced similar issues with a Zune and/or knows of a possible solution. I am quite comfortable with software/hardware in general so I'd be willing to try most anything. At this point I will most likely exchange for a new Zune, but would like to make sure it is not me/my software ruining these last two Zunes. Thanks again. Sorry for the wall of text =\ |

I've experienced pretty much the same thing. I recieved a zune from zune originals, it worked fine when I initially turned it on. Then I plugged it in, my comp recognized it, the software didn't though. When I unplugged it, it froze and went into a dead state. Even after the battery drained it still couldn't charge/turn on and was completely dead. I left it charging as well with no new response after. I called up and am currently in the process of getting it repaired.. By what you said it seems like we have a similiar problem. it's unfortunate that this is your second one :-(. I don't realy have a solution though... sry.
