I just ordered an 80gb Zune off eBay and then found that quite a lot of people are getting cracks on their screen in a few month's use. It's apparently due to the battery heating up, expanding and putting pressure on the glass (or something along those lines). And it's not covered by Microsoft's warranty.
Is this simply a defect within a certain batch of Zunes? Or would it happen to any Zune under specific circumstances? It seems that a LOT of people are complaining about their cracked screens. But maybe it's just that people that don't have a problem with their Zunes aren't coming out and saying that theirs is fine. Really gives me the sh*ts thinking that I just threw away $300+ Can anyone give me some peace of mind? :/ |

Where have you been hearing this from? I doubt this is true...
If you're afraid of your screen cracking then slap an invisibleSHIELD on it. There is a deal in the Accessories Section. The battery will not effect the Zune's screen.

wasn't that an old rumor that was made up when the zune first came out?
so far, no one on this forum has reported a cracked screen due to the battery, so i wouldn't worry about it

It's impossible because the battery does not expand...

That's a relief, I wouldn't want to get a Zune that will break because of overheating.
It would be the Xbox 360 all over again.

Are you sure the glass is not cracked? Just call microsoft and say the battery is not lasting long and get it repaired. If they call you about the broken screen, just say it must have broken in the mail.
Oh another hand, why did you pay $300 for a Zune, the MSRP is $250.

Well I'm just gonna hope that it's not true. =/ Anyway, thanks for the feedback guys! Looking forward to getting my Zune~ edit:: Quote:
It was 275.99USD on ebay with "Buy it Now", and then it was 42USD for shipping to Australia. With Paypal's current exchange rate, it came to be around 346AUD. Did i get ripped off? o_o Last edited by Setiawan : 03-15-2008 at 06:38 AM. Reason: reply to other post |

I've heard about that, I just don't know how truthful it is. Like any product in the world, some are bound to be defective, don't write off the product should you get a bad one.
